Though the launch of a previous spacecraft, Tianhe, was recorded as a success, China was criticized on an international stage for allowing the uncontrolled reentry to Earth of part of the rocket that carried it into space, the Associated Press reported. Discarded rocket stages reenter Earth’s atmosphere shortly after liftoff, normally over water, and do not go into orbit. China Manned Space Agency Assistant Director Ji Qiming said the rocket taking off Thursday is a different model and waved away concerns about it or the models used for cargo missions presenting a danger upon reentry....

“Serious and robust actions” by India’s military have successfully stopped Chinese ground and air forces in their tracks since tensions escalated into a deadly melee in June, said Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria.
