Following the events of 2019’s climactic Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder sees the return of Hemsworth as the God of Thunder searches for inner peace. But when a new enemy emerges by the name of Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), Thor is forced to recruit new allies in order to prevent the Galactic threat from eliminating all gods.

Even though he joined them on their Benatar ship in Endgame, from the looks of the first Thor: Love and Thunder teaser, Thor appears to turn down going on more missions with the Guardians and instead is keen on finding his peace amid superhero retirement. But his departure doesn’t seem to jeopardize his friendship with the group, as another clip in the teaser shows Quill giving advice to Thor, saying that he just needs to look at the eyes of the people that he loves if ever he feels lost. It seems that the bond presented in the film translated over on set, as Pratt has now sat down with GamesRadar to share the wonderful time he had working with Hemsworth, admitting that the Australian actor is like his character in real life. “I love being able to work with Chris Hemsworth. He is like Thor in real life. He’s the sweetest dude. Super-funny. Works so hard. It was great. I loved every minute of shooting [Thor 4]. I’m so grateful that they brought us along."

Pratt also didn’t forget to praise director Taika Waititi, who revitalize the character in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. “It was neat to see him bring this to Australia and shoot it there, with all of his fellow countrymen. And with director Taika Waititi, who is just outrageous. His style is so unique.” It’s no surprise that Pratt had a blast working with the whole cast and crew on the upcoming film, as he shared a Thor: Love and Thunder photo during filming of him and Hemsworth in their costumes, indicating the great time they had on set.

While the Guardians’ role will likely be limited in the film, seeing how Thor and Star-Lord’s friendship evolves will be interesting, especially since Endgame’s ending hints at the competition between the two leaders. Other than focusing on their dynamic, Thor: Love and Thunder will also explore Valkyrie’s (Tessa Thompson) rule as the new king and showcase Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster taking up the mantle of the God of Thunder.

Thor: Love and Thunder will arrive in theatres on July 8, 2022.
