One of the reasons that fans might have not even realized that Pine was being left out of Spider-Man: No Way Home is that he likely played the most under-the-radar version of Peter Parker on the big screen. The man who is best known as Captain Kirk in the Star Trek reboots played the version of Spider-Man who died early on in Into the Spider-Verse. Because of that, he was overshadowed a bit by Jake Johnson, who coincidentally also didn’t make an appearance in No Way Home.

Pine recently sat down for an interview with Yahoo Entertainment where he talked about being ok with not being included in Spider-Man: No Way Home. When asked about not appearing with Maguire, Holland and Garfield, he simply said that the movie had a “full team already.” Pine added that he understands why he was left out of the latest Spider-Man movie because of just how packed the cast was as a whole. However, he also said that he had quite a bit of fun playing the part of the friendly neighborhood webhead.
Pine said he especially loved the introductory scene where he was hocking a bunch of merchandise and singing a bunch of songs. The actor also said he really enjoyed singing the Christmas Spider-Man songs that were front and center in the film. He enjoyed all of that despite the fact that he ended up being killed by the oversized fists of the Kingpin, which allowed Miles Morales to grow into his role.
Since Pine didn’t appear in No Way Home, it seems as though he’s left the role of Peter Parker behind forever. Of course, while his character did die as part of the plot for Into the Spider-Verse, the entire premise of the movie is that there are an infinite number of Peter Parkers all over the multiverse. With Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse officially being in production, there is always a chance that the actor could eventually bring his character back.
