Paul's expected time away from the court — originally an estimated six weeks — seems to be shrinking, Dan Woike of the Orange County Register reports.

The seven-time NBA All-Star got back into the workout groove earlier this week, but coach Doc Rivers expressed caution regarding Paul's return to game action.

"He feels good," Rivers said. "I know he's shooting a little bit now. The fact that he can run and do the conditioning is great. But other than that, it still has to heal."

Paul said he wants to play in the Feb. 16 All-Star Game — to which he was named a Western Conference reserve Thursday despite the injury question mark.

Should Paul meet his reported return date, he should be able to play with the league's best in New Orleans the following week.
