Chipolo ONE Spot Brings Bluetooth Tag Tracking to Apple Find My Network

The Chipolo ONE Spot continues the companies fine work with Bluetooth tracking devices. As with all Bluetooth tracking tags, you attach the ONE Spot to the device you want to keep tabs on, connect it to the specific tracking network, and you’re good to go.

ONE Spot carries Chipolo’s familiar disc design, featuring a 12-month battery life, a 120dB ring, and water resistance. However, this special edition unit works exclusively with Apple’s Find My network, becoming the first Bluetooth item-finder to track devices on Apple’s extensive network.

Primož Zelenšek, CEO of Chipolo, said:

As part of Apple’s Find My network, Chipolo ONE Spot users can use Lost Mode, the Bluetooth scanning mode that notifies the owner if anyone comes into the lost device’s Bluetooth range. If a stranger finds the lost Chipolo ONE Spot, it directs the finder to a website page with contact details for the owner and notifies the owner of its whereabouts via Find My.

In terms of compatibility, Chipolo ONE Spot tracking requires an iPhone or iPod Touch running iOS 14.3 or later, iPad with iPadOS 14.3 or later, or a Mac running macOS Big Sur 11.1 or later.

Chipolo Gets the Drop on Apple

Chipolo’s special edition ONE Spot coming to market before Apple’s eagerly anticipated AirTags Bluetooth tracker gives the company a slight edge. But that edge is likely temporary, as once Apple AirTags hit the market, the new product is bound to surge in popularity, such is the way with Apple products.

Still, working as part of the Find My network is no bad thing, that’s absolutely clear. Bluetooth tag tracking networks work by strength of numbers. Even if there aren’t as many people using Chipolo devices, the number of Apple users will make finding a lost Chipolo tag easier than before.

The special edition Chipolo ONE Spot will open for pre-orders in May 2021, shipping sometime in June.
